PATIENTCE

This year, there was an invasion of tangled tentacles, beached every few feet, organs inside out. Jellyfish. The nightmare of waiting. Of being aborted. To me, they were abandoned children who couldn’t stop waiting by the door, just in case, rucksack packed.
Teach me the indifference that seperates them. The patience to survive the limbo of distance. We stayed up until sunrise, baptised by the morning, the smoke and sweat and songs holy in the dark. How we made a home out of waiting, a mandala of pebbles, of licking flames and howling harmonies, smoke and the sighing waves beneath the memories of stars. This is how I want to wait for you, this is how I want to wait for resolution. I want the strength to wait like a jellyfish shivering in the sand.
